As you are aware, there many new and exciting surprises planned for the students attending Nativity’s summer term at DeSales University this July.

One of the most significant will involve the rising 8th grade students (the current 7th grade). During their last week of the summer term, the rising 8th grade students will board vans and travel to Camp DeSales in Michigan. This camp is owned by the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales and directed by Br. David Patterson, OSFS.

Accompanied by Nativity faculty as well as Br. Ed Ogden, OSFS, the students will leave from DeSales University (in Center Valley, PA) on Saturday, July 17th and return from Camp DeSales to Nativity on Saturday, July 24th.

This Friday, April 30th at 3:30PM, Br. David will be available in the Cafeteria to answer questions or tell you more about the activities that await the students at Camp DeSales.

Memo from the President of Nativity Prep

Rev. Richard R. De Lillio, OSFS

The Very Rev. James Greenfield, OSFS, provincial of the Wilmington/ Philadelphia Province of the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales, and chairman of the Board of Members of Nativity Preparatory School,  has  appointed Mr. Michael Hassler, LCSW, principal of Nativity Prep.  Mr. Hassler has served as Nativity’s interim principal and will assume his new role immediately.

Mr. Hassler looks forward to helping Nativity Prep grow.  He adds:  “Because of the size of the student body and the caliber of the faculty and staff, there is so much potential for bigger and better things.  At Nativity Prep we can think outside the box and be creative in education.  And we can individualize instruction to better allow students to succeed in area high schools.”

I firmly believe that the future success of Nativity Prep will only happen when established school standards are maintained with strong leadership, firm parental support, a dedicated faculty and capable, willing and able students.  In this way Nativity Prep’s mission will forever thrive. We wish Mr. Hassler well.

Exemption from Evening Study …

Exemption from evening study for the third quarter begins this evening, Tuesday, January 26th.  A student may be exempt from evening study if he has …

  •
    • First Honors
    • All A’s and B’s
    • And if his participation has not been required by the principal.

If a student has been exempt from evening study and, in the course of the quarter the student’s academic performance or conduct declines, the student’s exemption may be cancelled and the student may be required to attend evening study.

Evening study is an important part of the academic day.  An unexcused absence (as well as unexcused tardiness) carries with it the same consequence as absence during the day.  Absence and tardiness may result in point loss and/or detentions, and these incidents will be included in reports submitted to prospective high schools.

The following students are exempt from evening study for the third quarter:

Grade 5:          Daniel Adams – Elijah Hailey – Tywan Harrell

Grade 6:          Juwel Campbell – Serafin Escobar – Jahaziel Valenzo –                                  Patryk Wilson – Joel Yearwood

Grade 7:          Liam Carpenter-Urquhart – Rafael Gonzalez – Taylor                                      Maddrey – Nasir Wilson

Grade 8:          Mark Christie – Terran Mardis – Joshua Yearwood

Please Note:  If your student’s name does not appear above, he is to be present for evening study during the third quarter.
